7 Ways to Live Well
Hi there! Welcome to Our Blog.
Here you will find recipes and blog posts filled with tips and hacks to make eating healthy easy.
In this first blog, we want to share some simple ways to stay strong and healthy.
- Eat Healthy
Eating healthy doesn’t mean you have to eat less; it means you have to eat more of the good stuff.
• Choose vegetables and fruits more often (frozen are just as healthy as fresh).
• Choose dried beans, peas and lentils more often. Rinse canned beans with water.
• Choose whole grains such as whole wheat breads, cereal, pasta and brown rice.
• Eat fish at least twice a week (fresh, frozen or canned).
• Make meat and fish dishes at home. Trim fat from meats, remove the skin on chicken and bake, broil or BBQ fish.
• Look for low salt, unsalted or ‘no added salt’ snack foods and canned goods. - Get Moving
Whenever there is a chance to move rather than sit, take it! Whether it’s walking to the store or getting on the land, it all adds up and there are many benefits. Moving about 30 minutes every day helps lower stress, manage blood sugar, keep a healthy weight, build stronger bones and lower blood pressure. - De-stress
To help deal with stress, try sewing, playing games, getting together with friends or laughing! Get on the land, cook or bake. Remember to make time to do the things you enjoy every day. - Keep Your Waist in Check
Staying a healthy weight or more specifically, keeping your tummy size down by living well can help lower the risk of diabetes complications like stroke or heart attack, help keep blood pressure in check as well as blood cholesterol levels. Smoking, vaping and chewing tobacco makes unhealthy changes to your body that make it feel weak. It can be harder to breathe while hunting or moving around. It can be harmful to pregnant or breastfeeding women and is linked to certain types of cancers. It can raise your blood pressure and also doesn’t let blood pressure medication work properly.

When healthy living changes are not enough, your doctor may suggest medications to control blood pressure, blood sugars or blood cholesterol. Most people need two or more drugs to help with these health conditions.
It is important to take your medications as explained. Try to take them at the same time every day.
Your doctor might have you try different medications or combinations of medications to see which ones work the best with the fewest side effects. It is important to continue taking your medications, even when you are feeling better.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions about your medications. - Get your ZZZZ’s
Sleep is such an important way to let your body and mind heal. How much you sleep every night and having a good night sleep can make so much of a difference!
It is recommended that adults 18-64 years old get 7 to 9 hours of good-quality sleep regularly. Read more about how much sleep to get at every age and how to sleep better every night by clicking HERE.
The bottom line: living in a healthy way means taking care of your body and mind. Small steps can make a big difference. We hope to support you along your journey of good health
