Sweet Chili Stir Fry
This is a tasty recipe that uses sweet chili sauce to create a thick gravy to meld together the stir-fried vegetables and meat.

INGREDIENTS
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, minced or 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1-pound lean ground meat or 1 package (about 400 grams) plant-based ground meat
- 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables like peas and carrots
- ¼ cup + 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
- 1 ½ tablespoons flour or 1 tablespoon corn starch
PREPARATION
- Heat the oil until sizzling in a large skillet. Add the onion, stirring often.
- After 2 minutes, stir in the fresh garlic. If using garlic powder, set aside until later.
- Once the onions are softened, add the ground meat or plant-based meat.
- If using meat, stir often breaking up the larger pieces of meat. Cover with a lid and cook for 10 minutes.
- If using plant-based meat, skip step #4.
- Add the frozen vegetables plus ½ cup of water to the skillet and cover with a lid. Cook until the vegetables are softened.
- Meanwhile make the sauce by adding the flour or the corn starch to a small bowl. Slowly stir in ½ cup water until smooth.
- Stir in ¼ cup sweet chili sauce. If using garlic powder, add it here.
- Once the vegetables are ready, stir in the sauce. Cook until the gravy is thickened. Then stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons chili sauce.
