INGREDIENTS

  • About 2 cups (300 grams) frozen shrimp, thawed
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, chopped or 1½ teaspoons jarred garlic or ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • ¼ – ¾ teaspoon hot chili flakes (adjust to your taste)

PREPARATION

  1. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towel.
  2. If desired, you can peel the shells off for easy eating, but leave the tails on for extra flavour.
  3. Heat the oil on medium heat in a non-stick frying pan until sizzling.
  4. Quickly place the shrimp in the pan. Cook each side for about one minute. Remove the shrimp from the pan.
  5. In the same pan, add the rest of the ingredients and let cook for about two minutes or until the sauce is thick and syrupy.
  6. Toss the shrimp back into the pan. Cook for another minute or two until the shrimp are well coated.
  7. Transfer to a serving plate and prick the shrimp with a toothpick for easy nibbling.
