Stir-Fried Ketchup Shrimp

INGREDIENTS
- About 2 cups (300 grams) frozen shrimp, thawed
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 3 cloves fresh garlic, chopped or 1½ teaspoons jarred garlic or ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- ¼ – ¾ teaspoon hot chili flakes (adjust to your taste)
PREPARATION
- Pat the shrimp dry with paper towel.
- If desired, you can peel the shells off for easy eating, but leave the tails on for extra flavour.
- Heat the oil on medium heat in a non-stick frying pan until sizzling.
- Quickly place the shrimp in the pan. Cook each side for about one minute. Remove the shrimp from the pan.
- In the same pan, add the rest of the ingredients and let cook for about two minutes or until the sauce is thick and syrupy.
- Toss the shrimp back into the pan. Cook for another minute or two until the shrimp are well coated.
- Transfer to a serving plate and prick the shrimp with a toothpick for easy nibbling.
