Pressed Italian Sandwiches
There is so much flavour in these sandwiches. By pressing or weighing down the finished sandwiches there is ultimate flavour in each bite.

INGREDIENTS
- 8 slices of whole wheat bread
- ¼ cup garlic butter or 2 garlic cloves crushed into 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 8 slices turkey or chicken deli meat
- 1 cup spinach, washed and dried well
- 8 slices beef or ham deli meat
- ½ cup shredded cheese or non-dairy cheese shreds
PREPARATION
- Lay the bread slices onto a cookie sheet.
- On each slice of bread, evenly spread the garlic butter or garlic oil.
- On 4 slices of bread, layer on the shredded cheese, then the chicken or turkey deli meat followed by the spinach.
- Top the spinach with the beef or ham deli meat. To finish each sandwich, top with a slice of bread. The side of bread with garlic butter or oil should be on the inside of the sandwich. No greasy fingers.
- Cover each sandwich with plastic wrap to seal it completely.
- Lay the sandwiches flat on the cookie sheet. Cover with another cookie sheet then add something heavy like a bag of flour on top of the cookie sheet to weigh down the sandwiches. Let sit for an hour before eating.
- You can choose to remove the plastic wrap then heat the sandwiches in a nonstick frying pan to toast the outsides or you can eat the sandwiches as is. Enjoy!
