INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced or 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 pounds ground meat or 1 pound ground meat + 1 package (around 350 grams) plant-based ground meat
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or 1 whole wheat bread slice torn into pieces
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce
  • 6 tablespoons ketchup

PREPARATION

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
  2. Add the oil to a frying pan.
  3. Cook the onion and garlic in the pan for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Place the onion mixture into a large bowl and cool 5 minutes.
  5. Into the large bowl, mix together the rest of the ingredients except the ketchup.
  6. Press the meat mixture into two 8 x 4 – inch loaf pans or shape into a loaf on a cookie sheet.
  7. Spread the ketchup on top.
  8. Bake for 50-55 minutes. The internal temperature should reach at least 165° F degrees.
  9. Remove from oven. Let sit for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
